1) Who can rent from Rank Computers ?

Rank Computers is a business to business IT supplier; we do not provide rental to private individuals . We can however supply to business type organisations and our customers can include:-

Self Employed

Small businesses/Partnerships

SME’s

Charities

Public Bodies (Schools, Councils etc)

Limited companies.

If you are a private individual and cannot undertake IT rental via a business organisation we are sorry but we cannot assist you. 

The only exception we make to this is for people who are already working in an organization which is renting from Rank Computers.

2) What  is the equipment that can I rent ?

We carry the most comprehensive range of IT, AV & office equipment on rent. 

In IT, we can supply Servers, Desktop PC’s, Laptops , Printers , Scanners, Networking equipment  and most other IT equipment. 

In AV,  we also supply Projectors, Screens and Sound Systems. 

In Office Equipment, we currently supply Copiers and Fax Machines.

3) What if I don't see what I require ?

If the product you need is not on the site then please call us and speak to our sales staff. Our product range is constantly evolving and keeping the web site 100% up to date is a constant challenge so our latest product may have not quite have made it to the site.

In addition we are always looking to expand our product range so just because you do not see it does not mean we cannot provide it. Call us, let us know what you require and for how long and we will try and help.

4) I need but require better specifications / alternatives ?

In many case this is not a problem. Rank Computers may be unique in that we design and build many of our products ourselves. This flexibility allows us "custom design" or modify our products to meet many of our client's requirements. Remember if you do not call and ask you will not know.

5) I need additional software

Rank Computers primarily supplied IT hardware only. Due to licensing issues &  the vast range of software available  we do not provide software at all..

You can of course load any of your own licensed software onto our machines.

6) What if I don't know what I need?

If you are not sure which of our range of equipment is suitable then please call us. Our staff are able to offer advise on many aspects of our products and there applications.

In order for us to help you please provide details on-

  • The task you require to undertake?
  • Any software you need to run on the machine?
  • Any technical specifications you already have or have had recommended.

Based on this we can normally make a recommendation and if not your details will be passed to one of our technical staff who will call you to discuss the application in greater depth.

7) What type of companies do you rent to ?

If a company has a computer or other piece of IT equipment then they are a potential customer for Rank Computers! We supply products to one man companies' right through to Multi National Companies.

Due to the specialist nature of some our products we do tend to find ourselves more represented in some markets than others. Typical of these specialist markets are:-

Graphic design studios

Animation studios

CAD studios

ITES /BPO/KPO

Financial companies

Software Companies

Training Companies

However during the course of a week we are normally supplying to a wide range of large and small companies. If you are in business, and need IT equipment, then lets talk to each other now.

8) Why should I rent equipment ?

9) What information do you require to provide a quotation ?

In order to provide an accurate quotation we need-

  • Your details - Name, company, E-Mail, Tel number
  • Equipment requirements - Details of the items you require  & the quantities
  • Rental term - How long do you require the equipment
  • Delivery -Where do you require it?

Based on this we should be able to provide an accurate costing for your rental requirements.

10) Why do you need all this information ?

Without some of this such as what you require and for how long we cannot provide a quotation.

A couple of different methods of contacting you can also be useful in case one fails.

11) What information will be in the quote?

Our quote will normally contain-

Pricing, this will be quoted in a daily, weekly and/or monthly rate depending on the length of rental and often a combination of these to allow a comparison to be made. All pricing excludes VAT (Which should be added to all costs, unless specifically mentioned otherwise.)

Specification - a brief description of each quoted item will be included. This may be expanded further by either an attached spec sheet or link to our web site. In the case of a totally new piece of equipment we may include a link to a manufacturer's web site or a more comprehensive description.

Delivery/Collection cost -  Normally, delivery and collection cost are included in the main quote and thus are not quoted separately except in certain special circumstances.

Terms & Conditions - These are a brief outline of our terms and conditions.

12) What periods can I rent for ?

One of the advantages of rental is the flexibility.

Rank Computers offer rental terms from as short as 1 hour up to 3 years.  In most cases whatever may be the period of  your requirement we can quote a suitable rate.

13) Do I pay for all days in a week ?

Yes, you pay for the period of the contract that you have committed to and payment has to be done for all days of the week as the equipment is lying with you for that period.

14) Why is short term rental more expensive when compared with long term ?

With any rental, whether 1 day, 1 week or 1 month or more we have a fixed overhead cost for getting the equipment prepared, raising paperwork, despatching, invoicing and checking equipment on return.

With a short term rental these costs are spread over a very short period, on a long term rental these are over a far longer period.

As an example if our fixed cost for a rental is Rs. 200.00 then on a 1 days rental Rs.200/day will be covering this cost and the rest for the equipment. On a 30 day rental then only Rs. 6.66/day is then covering the fixed cost.

Other cost do come into the quotation however this is the main reason that short term rental is more expensive.

If a competitor is offering you short term rental at very low rates then you should ask yourself what sort of support service he can offer? Our fixed costs represent a realistic charge based on maintaining considerable resources of staff and equipment to support our customers. If others offer lower costs then perhaps you will be receiving a lower stand of service?

15) Can I get Insurance cover for equipment during rental ?

No, unfortunately presently, none of the insurance companies cover this for us as the equipment keeps moving from one customer to the other / one location to the other at periodic intervals. 

We cannot provide any form of insurance cover for items on rental. This is an area we are constantly looking at and some level of service may be available in the future , if and when the insurance companies start covering this.

At present you should ensure that you have existing cover through your buildings/content policies or arrange specific cover with your insurance broker.

Remember you are responsible for safe keeping and return of our products. Failure to do so can result in charges for repair and/or replacement up to the full value of the product

16) What are all these terms and condition ?

When you rent equipment from us you are entering into a contract where you pay money and we provide a service. As with any contract the terms and conditions are there so both parties know what to expect from each other.

It is up to you to be aware of these terms and conditions, if you have any specific questions regarding these please ask our sales staff before placing your order.

17) How do I place an order ?

Placing an order is simple. 

Just send us your order in writing thru Fax.or email mentioning our quote number.

18) I need goods transported between venues ?

If you cannot arrange transport yourself then we can arrange transport if you have a number of venues . This will be at additional cost and you will be responsible for the correct packaging and safety of the equipment, unless otherwise specified by us.

An overall rental period is normally more cost effective than a number of short term rentals in these circumstances

19) What if you cannot supply the products I require ?

If at point of order we cannot supply the items required we will try and substitute these with an alternative product of equal or higher specification. This will be at no additional cost to you.

As an example if you order a 15" Mac Book Pro and we have none in stock you may well get a 17" Mac Book Pro. In these circumstances we would contact you to ensure the replacement product is suitable.

In the majority of cases once an order is placed and availability is confirmed there should be no problems. However circumstances can occur where even at this stage Rank Computers reserves the right to supply a replacement product.

20) What happens if my requirements change ?

If you have placed an order and they need to change delivery dates, addresses, equipment type, quantities, rental periods etc please contact us as soon as possible. We will do as much as possible to meet you new circumstances but cannot guarantee to meet all requirements if these have changed considerably.

Obviously the sooner you tell us about a change the more likely we can meet your new requirements.

21) I've got the equipment but it doesn't do what I want

If you have received equipment and as part of our communications you have specified it should undertake a specific task and we have agreed that it is suitable and given the same to you in writing,  then we will try to provide a replacement more suitable machine as soon as possible.

If however you have not advised us of your requirements and have assumed that it would come with X, Y or Z or would be compatible with your software and this does not work then all costs associated with getting a replacement machine will be to your account.

You must ensure that the equipment we offer is suitable for your task. Whilst we can make recommendations the final choice and decision is down to you.

If in doubt ask/ confirm  before ordering !

22) The equipment has failed/late delivery etc and it has cost me money !

Rank Computers cannot be responsible for any third party costs incurred by you as a result of late delivery, failed or unsuitable equipment. Our limitation is the cost of the rental and delivery costs as applicable.

Furthermore these costs will only be credited on the item that has failed not on all equipment supplied as part of an order.

23) I need to extend the rental

This is not normally a problem. Just contact us 7 days prior to the day of collection and advise us of the new collection date. We will then arrange collection for this revised date.

24) I wish to return the equipment early

If you wish to return the equipment before the end of the agreed rental term this can be arranged ( Such is the flexibility of rental !)

50% of the rent of the remaining period of the agreed contract period will be waived off and we will charge you only 50% of the remaining rent amount as termination charges..

25) What if something is not returned or is damaged?

Equipment is normally physically checked shortly after arrival at our premises. At this point missing items and/or physically damaged items will be identified.

At this point you will be contacted to make you aware of the problem with the option to either find and return the item or pay the replacement cost. 

You will have to bear the rental costs till the day you return the equipment back to us in working condition or it comes back to us repaired from the repair center in working condition.

26) Can I take your equipment overseas ?

Yes you can.

Please bear in mind however that it is your responsibility to ensure the security of our equipment. Furthermore you will require to ensure that all customs formalities are properly adhered too and import/export documentation is completed.

Also some "high end" equipment may be subject to export licensing depending on your destination.

If the equipment is confiscated or held up at customs for any reason bear in mind that your rental costs will continue to accumulate until it is retuned to us or replacement cost is paid.

27) How long will it take to scan my documents ?

We offer a number of different scanners with varying speeds and performance.

In our experience the limiting factor in scanning work is not the machine itself but the time taken to prepare material for scanning and archive it after the operation. This can easily be several times the time taken to actually scan something.

As a result it is impossible for us to provide an estimate of how long it will take you to complete a task but suffice to say from our experience it normally takes longer than you have estimated!

28) Will I get a receipt/VAT invoice ?

Yes all customers are issued with a VAT invoice.

This is normally issued at the start of the rental period & then subsequently, at the start of every month of renewal.

29) Do I need to remove my software/data prior to equipment return ?

No this is not necessary as all computers/laptops are securely (Multi pass) wiped.  We are careful about your data and will take care to ensure that all data is wiped out properly before sending it to another customer.

But we do not take responsibility for your data and its security. Hence please ensure that all data is removed from your equipment before you give it back to us.

30) When is your office open?

Our office hours are 9.30am to 6.00 pm, Monday to Friday and 9.30am to 2.00pm on a Saturday..

31) Can I collect/return equipment to/from your office ?

Yes we always welcome visitors and you can certainly come round past our offices/warehouse.

Please do however advise us first and bear in mind we are not a commercial shop so you will be entering a working environment where equipments are moving around.

32) Do you sell ex-rental equipment ?

We donate part of our used equipment to needy person/organizations and also we do  sell old equipment..

33) Can I buy a new PC from you ?

No, we do not sell PC’s or other equipments.  But in case you are our existing customer and are not able to locate a piece of equipment that you want to buy, we will use our resources and contacts to help you locate the same, at no additional cost or charges.

It is a small service that we provide to our existing customers.

34)  Will you repair my PC ?

No, there are plenty computer shops and individuals providing this service. We do not work on any equipment other than our own.

35) How much toner/ink will I use ?

Toner & Ink use depends on coverage on your paper. Thus a CAD line drawing will use far less ink than a full colour poster.

36) I have finished with the equipment, your service was fantastic and I will definitely use you again !

We always welcome compliments and these will be passed on to the engineers and admin staff who are not on the "front line"
